65th Infantry CGM Congressional Outreach Best Practices

The following is a list of successful best practices for congressional outreach from supporters around the nation. Please feel free to implement these within your respective regions.

- Supporter has taken a group of signed letters to the local Congressional office- Supporters have lobbied for a Congressional official to be the 65th Infantry CGM
“CHAMPION” among their state’s Congressional delegation and among the congress-member's Congressional circles
- Supporters have requested their local newspapers to write an article; Write letters to the editor
- Supporters have made appointments with their local Congressional offices with a Borinqueneer veteran
- Supporters have gone on the RADIO to promote the 65th Infantry CGM
- Supporters have asked their local Korean War Veteran Chapters for letters of support (Find a local Korean War chapter)
- Supporters have requested city, county, and state and governor proclamations, resolutions.
- Supporters have sent pre-stamped envelopes with pre-written support letters ready for their friends and family to sign and mail-off to their local Congressional offices,
not the D.C. offices. (It takes longer to arrive to the D.C. office)
- Build 65th Infantry CGM Alliances in your states!!!
- Have your Congress member send out a DEAR-COLLEAGUE letter. (email message gets sent to all of the House of Reps, Senators and staff members)
- Contact your state’s American Legion and VFW departments especially the legislative representatives. Also contact your local Association of the United States
Army (AUSA) chapters (Find your local AUSA Chapters)
- Contact your local or state Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for support
- Check if your state has a collective Veterans Council, Association, etc. and contact them for support
- Contact your state reps, state senators, county commissioners, city council, mayors, etc.. to influence your state’s congressional delegation to co-sponsor.
- Purchase the book, “Congress at Your Fingertips” (~$20) for a complete contact listing of D.C. staffers for all 535+ Congressional members
- Contact your state’s National Guard Adjutant General (“TAG”) for support
